It’s time to go to school again! I’m gonna be broke, but knowledge is important. I want learn another skill. These are the classes that I’m interested in. But I’m most like going to take Adobe Illustrator since I’m pretty clueless on how to use it. I can pretty much fudge my way through it.. but that’s about it. The 6:30-9:30 time is going to kill me, but definitely worth it.
Adobe Illustrator CS
Course: Art (Studio) X491.2 (3 units)
This graphic design/illustration class offers an introduction to the use of the computer as an illustration tool using Adobe Illustrator. Students learn text/graphics manipulation skills used in a variety of projects, such as technical publications, service manuals, textbook art, advertising art, medical illustration, comics, cartography, corporate identity logos, greeting cards, clip art, product illustration, fashion layouts, symbol design and fine art.
Prerequisite: A working knowledge of the Macintosh computer.

Adobe Photoshop CS
Course: Art (Studio) X490.3 (4 units)
An introductory course on the creative and technical uses of Adobe Photoshop, the digital imaging and manipulation program of choice for photographers, commercial artists, graphic designers, fine artists and desktop publishers. Students learn to create, combine, resize and otherwise manipulate both scanned and computer-generated images. Lessons include ways to adjust contrast, color and value; how to use the paint, drawing, airbrush, dodge and burn tools; and how to perform such tasks as the transformation of simple pencil drawings into color renderings.
Instructor: Frank Houlihan, M.F.A., Graphic Designer and Owner, Design Graphics, Riverside. Houlihan has produced award-winning corporate graphics for over 25 years for businesses and government agencies. He has taught classes in design and software process to numerous professional designers, production artists, printers and university students.

Advanced Macromedia Flash MX
Course: Art (Studio) X493.6 (3 units)
Flash MX is the premier program for creating animated and interactive new media and Internet content. Flash MX allows designers and Web developers to integrate video, text, audio and graphics for the Web and other interactive marketing and presentations, e-learning and application user interface. This class explores the program’s advanced functionality, such as importing blended animations, using masking, motion guides, creating pre-loaders and multiple scene interactivity. Through class demonstrations and “hands on” exercises, students learn the useful features of this powerful vector-based software.
Prerequisite: Art X492.8, Macromedia Flash MX.
