Firefox 3 Beta 5

I just installed Firefox 3 Beta 5 tonight, and it seems to be running much faster. I do like how the address bar can predict what I want to type. It’s a lot like IE 8.0.

One thing that I thought was nifty was… did you know you can drag urls and drop them into the address bar? I’m not sure if this is new or not, but I just discovered it tonight. See image above.

Qik Follow Feature

I’ve been using Qik on my Nokia N95 for two weeks now, and I throughly enjoy this software.

The support team is very fast at responding to problems and questions. And as if being able to stream your life isn’t amazing enough, watching others stream theirs is incredible. I’ve been able to attend Google Campfire One with Robert Scoble and Michael Arrington virtually. It’s pretty neat to see two different camera angles of the same event too. I felt like I was there.

Qik has been working on a few new features. The one I really love is the ability to follow people! It’s a great feature, especially since I love going to these geek meetings virtually, or see when my friends are online and streaming. That’s my friend, Bhaskar. ;) (Say hi Bhaskar!)

Create Surveys using Google Docs

I just learned how to create simple forms in Google Docs & Spreadsheets today.

First, go here to create you own Survey form. Start typing in the title, description, and adding your questions. This step is very intuitive and easy to use. Creating forms have never been this fun!

Next, click on “Next, choose recipients.” You can send the survey to specific people using the “Invite People” box. Or you can put the “Go to live form” link on your website.

Where are the Photos?

My good college friend, let’s call her “Dolphin,” IMed me today and asked about my digital photos from NY.

Dolphin: Hey, so where are your pictures from New York? I haven’t seen that many online yet.

Me: Oh, I’ve been tired.. and trying to catch up on work.

Dolphin: This isn’t like you…

Me: But… I did use my time on the plane wisely. I slept for two hours, and the next three hours, I picked out photos and resized them! Now I just need to upload them.

Dolphin: Now that’s the Daynah I know!

Me: haha

hehe, yes, this isn’t like me! Usually I have pictures up by the end of the night, but I was just too tired on this trip.

T-Mobile Rolls Out 3-G Service in NYC — With Data

So I missed it only by a few days! I did see the “3-G” symbol appear on my Nokia N95 while walking around NYC… so I knew it existed, but wasn’t working quite fully. Sigh!

It’s official: After years of delays, T-Mobile launched its new 3-G data network in New York City on Monday. Contrary to previous reports, which claimed the rollout would initially be voice-only, the service does in fact include data. That’s the good news. The bad news is that if you live somewhere other than NYC, the 3-G data train may take a while to get to you. According to the carrier, the plan is to expand its UMTS/HSDPA network to “be available in cities where a majority of its subscribers currently use data services” by the end of the year.

This is the reason why my Qik Videos were lagging. Tmobile wasn’t quite on the 3-G Network yet. And now that I’m back in California… it still isn’t! I’ll take Bhaskar’s advice and just stream on high quality for now and not worry about the lag.

Blogging as a Requirement

How interesting… there are positions that require WordPress knowledge now.

I remember when I started blogging. This was the order of the software I used: Blogger, Greymatter, b2 (cafelog), Geeklog, Xanga, Livejournal, Tabulas, Vox, and now only WordPress and Twitter.

Do you remember any of these? The evolution of blogging software has been an amazing journey. ;)

Streaming with Qik

Thanks to Steve Garfield, I was able to get a Qik account before my New York trip! Now Cali can see NY through my eyes. ;)

Qik is very easy to use, and it’s so amazing! I downloaded the software to my Nokia N95 and was ready to go. I tested it a few times yesterday. There seems to be a lot of lag when I have the images set to Normal or High quality. There’s less lag on Low, but everything is pixelated. Sigh. I think it’s the connection of my provider. I do love the chat feature on this. All the messages typed from the website appears on the phone! I’ll be testing it again soon. You can see live videos later at qik.com/daynah

Myspace Captcha
