I haven’t had the chance to write a decent post about my experience at New Media Expo yet. But it was definitely amazing. I met a lot of wonderful, incredible, and quite inspiring people. And I also got some great photos of my one day at the event. Here are a few that I’d like to share. I finally purchased a Flickr Pro account too, so I’ve been busy customizing that as well!
New Media Expo was like Hollywood, for geeks! And I mean that as the best compliment possible! I’m happy that I got the chance to meet Felicia Day, iJustine, Mostly Lisa, Veronica Belmont, Robert Scoble, Sarah Austin, Colin Devroe, Rob Sandie, Brandice, Rachel, Michelle Galvan, DJSteen, Geoff Smith, Chris Marquardt, Christine Lu, Chris Luckhardt, Greg Walker, Tony Wang, and so many more!
I also got to see Leo Laporte and Amber Mac do net@night live! Didn’t get to meet them because they were usually behind the camera. :)
I’m looking forward to next year’s event. :)

I’m going to the New Media Expo next week! Are you?!
This Expo is a hands-on, exciting, “how-to” event with practical conference sessions about how to produce high-quality online audio and video content, grow a loyal audience, and even make a few bucks with your content in creative ways.
I’m super excited! Recently I’ve been learning how to create and edit videos, but there’s still always a lot more to learn!
Rob and Colin have put together this great video about the expo. Take a look!
There’s also a FatBurget TweetUp on Friday night if you’re interested, as well as many other events!

MacWorld Expo 2010 Overview

MacWorld Expo 2010 was quite a fun and educational experience. Even without Apple being at the show, the Mac community is still very strong. What I really loved this year was being able to meet the actual iPhone app developers at the App Pavilion and seeing the projects that they’re working on. There were also a lot of learning opportunities at the conference as well. Below are some of my conference highlights:

Another Blog World Expo has come and gone. This is actually my first Blog World Expo event, and I greatly enjoyed it. There were just so many amazing sessions taking place that it was very hard to choose which to go to. In addition to the panels, I met a lot of amazing people who are changing our world through social media and online tools.
I took a lot of notes that I need to review before writing a full article, so come back later for that! Here is a list of the panels and events that I attended:

Attending Blog World Expo 2009

I’m heading off to Blog World Expo 2009 tomorrow and I’m so excited! It’ll be my first Blog World event. I did go to New Media Expo 2008 last year, but now the two conferences are combined into one.
BlogWorld & New Media Expo is the only trade show and conference created for the industry of blogging and new media. It will give participants the strategies, tools and technologies they need to stake their claim in the blogosphere.
It’s a great conference to learn from the industry’s top leaders. There’s so many great educational opportunities and all the panels look great, it’s hard to choose just one for each time slot! The conference will cover various areas of blogging, new media, and so much more!
If you have an iPhone, be sure to install the Blog World Expo Sched iPhone app. It will also sync with the schedule you created online. Here is my schedule. Also be sure to stop by the Exhibit Hall for sessions at WordCamp Las Vegas.
I will be attending as iProng Magazine’s correspondent. iProng Magazine is the publication for iPhone, iPod, music, podcasting, and social media lovers. There are many reviews of iPhone apps, iPod accessories, and interviews with musicians. Check it out if you haven’t already! Best of all, it’s free! Also, if you haven’t registered for BlogWorld yet, you can still get a 20% discount using the code IPRONGVIP. I’ll see you there!

Web 2.0 Expo
February 20, 2007 by daynah
Filed under Geek Get-Togethers, Tech News
I got an advertisement in the mail today about the Web 2.0 Expo from O’Reilly. After I read through it, I was really interested in going. It’s in San Francisco this year, from April 15 – 18th.
I got more curious as to what they meant by “Web 2.0.” And I found this definition:
The concept of “Web 2.0″ began with a conference brainstorming session between O’Reilly and MediaLive International. Dale Dougherty, web pioneer and O’Reilly VP, noted that far from having “crashed”, the web was more important than ever, with exciting new applications and sites popping up with surprising regularity. What’s more, the companies that had survived the collapse seemed to have some things in common. Could it be that the dot-com collapse marked some kind of turning point for the web, such that a call to action such as “Web 2.0″ might make sense? We agreed that it did, and so the Web 2.0 Conference was born.
They formulated a sense of Web 2.0 with the following examples:
Web 1.0 | Web 2.0 | |
---|---|---|
DoubleClick | –> | Google AdSense |
Ofoto | –> | Flickr |
Akamai | –> | BitTorrent |
mp3.com | –> | Napster |
Britannica Online | –> | Wikipedia |
personal websites | –> | blogging |
evite | –> | upcoming.org and EVDB |
domain name speculation | –> | search engine optimization |
page views | –> | cost per click |
screen scraping | –> | web services |
publishing | –> | participation |
content management systems | –> | wikis |
directories (taxonomy) | –> | tagging (“folksonomy”) |
stickiness | –> | syndication |
It’s a very interesting concept, and I hope my workplace will allow me to go to the conference. Sounds like fun and geeky!

They played this really funny video at the Closing Keynote of Blogworld and New Media Expo 2010. I couldn’t stop laughing! I especially loved the part where Mark Malkoff was distracting Miss Destructo while she was blogging. How did she keep that straight face?! Watch and you’ll see! ;) Good times at Blogworld!

This is Geoff Smith’s first live appearance on TwitLive.tv! I was lucky enough to see him perform on Leo Laporte’s show at the New Media Expo 2008. If you like “I’m a Twit,” check out his other songs as well. “Digg the Code,” “Ones and O’s,” and “Hello, Hello” are some of my favorites on his latest cd.

CES 2010: AlgebraPrep iPhone Apps
January 19, 2010 by daynah
Filed under CES 2010, Links and Resources
Learning math has never been easier! Pearson and Modality have teamed up to create the AlgebraPrep iPhone/iPod Touch app series that provide algebra help anytime with practice tests along with video solutions. Now you can have your own 24/7 Algebra Tutor, anytime, anywhere!
Elayn Martin-Gay, award-winning instructor, firmly believes that every student can succeed in mathematics, and this is reinforced in her new AlgebraPrep Apps.
What I really love most about these apps is the way they teach you by example how equations and problems are solved. You have the option of taking a practice or mini test. In a practice test, you get multiple chances to pick the correct answer. If you answer correctly, you can move on to the next question. If you answer incorrectly, the app will give you a hint on what you need to do. After you finish a practice test, you’re ready for the mini test which are designed to be taken in 10 minutes or less.
These apps are simple yet sophisicated for students in middle and high school. I’d highly recommend them for students learning math.
AlgebraPrep Apps are available for the following topics:
- Factoring
- Exponents
- Real Numbers
- Rationals
- Equations
- Roots/Radicals
- Graphing
- Systems
- Quadratic Equations
- Practice Mid-Term
- Practice Final Exam
All apps are $2.99, except for the Practice Final Exam, which is $6.99. Find AlgebraPrep in the iTunes App Store.
For more information, see Pearson AlgebraPrep official website.
