New Acer Laptop Sports Carbon-Fibre Casing

Here’s a laptop for all you racers out there. This new Ferrari laptop is sporting a carbon-fibre casing. Very nice. But will that make it go faster? ;)

Acer has added another Scuderia Ferrari-endorsed laptop to its range of premium-priced models. However, the Ferrari 4000 has one exclusive trait – it’s the world’s first laptop to sport a carbon-fibre casing. The new 15.4in. Ferrari 4000 is based on AMD’s Turion 64 processor and features ATI’s Mobility Radeon X700 graphics chipset with 128MB of DDR memory, as well as a DVD Super Multi double-layer drive and a 5-in-1 card-reader. Acer has projected sales of 90,000-100,000 Ferrari-series laptops for this year, accounting for 1.8 per cent of its total shipment forecast.

The Ferrari 4000 features a relatively thin and light carbon-fibre casing, which comes in black and exclusive Ferrari-red, a 15.4in. TFT wide display, PCIe architecture, 1GB of DDR memory and a 100GB hard disk drive. The model also offers easy connection solutions in all situations: WLAN in line with IEEE 802.11b/g standards, integrated Bluetooth technology for a PAN (Personal Area Network), connections to corporate LANs with Gigabit Ethernet, and via telephone lines with a 56Kbit/s V. 92 modem/fax.
