For the past months, Al and I have been working on a Content Management System. The one we built is specifically for our staff to easily update their webpages without worrying about the site’s layout. There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done but functionally it’s working. The system’s interface still needs to be cleaned up a bit.

Some options for our system include:

  • Task Assignment: Task can be assigned by the webmasters to staff
  • Request Tracker: requests for new features, bug reports, and directory access are tracked
  • Web HTML Editor: This editor is written in DHTML using Microsoft’s HTML Editor Application along with many more additions for our use.
  • File Explorer: Works just like a Windows file explorer but for the web. (Image is displayed above). Folders may be created on the fly, as well as files, as long as the user has permission to.
  • Admin Interface: Options for editing users, setting permissions, deleting users, etc.
  • Template System: Some staff need special template for their pages, so they may choose a different one to publish their pages with.
  • Image Upload: users may upload images to their directories from a webpage
  • Live Editing: pages are edited and changes are made live. There is no wait period.
  • Dynamic Navigation: each page added to the site will have a dynamic navigation. Ex. Home >> Directory 1 >> Directory 2 >> file.html

and much much more…
