Domain Updates 2007

I really should be preparing paperwork for my meeting tomorrow, but I thought I’d put my foot down and fix up my domain. I installed WordPress 2.1 on the domain and moved my blog to http://php-princess.net/blog. Please update your RSS feed links to: http://php-princess.net/feed.
The domain now has a base for me to build on. I also installed a new board with the old data that Voxorb nicely converted for me. The past year has a been a little rough, but I think I’m ready for a fresh new start. :D
Many thanks to N.Design also for such a lovely layout! It’s beautiful, and very inspirational!

Updated Web Portal
May 3, 2004 by daynah
I updated the web portal to Geeklog 1.3.9. New features include:
- Geeklog now uses PEAR::Mail to send all emails. This gives you the option to send emails via PHP’s built-in mail() function (as before), via sendmail or via SMTP.
- There is a new admin option called Content Syndication that lets you create and configure (RSS) feeds. In addition to the standard feed containing all the new stories, you can now create feeds per topic, for upcoming events, and for links.
This feature is extensible in that plugins can provide additional feeds. It is also possible to provide feeds in formats other than RSS 0.91 by providing additional feed classes.
- Admins can change the block order easily from the list of blocks now.
- There is an alternative interface to adding users to groups (requires JavaScript).
- Users in the Group Admin group can now only assign other users to groups of which they themselves are a member.
- Image upload can now also use the GD library to scale images.
- Comments now use templates.
- To accomodate strict webhosts who don’t allow file uploads to the standard image directory, you can now set a new configuration variable,
$_CONF['path_images']to point to a directory outside of your webtree where article images and user profile pictures will be saved. - Geeklog now supports URL rewriting for story URLs, i.e. you can have URLs like http://www.geeklog.net/article.php/20031229225326631 which are known to be picked up by Google.
- Plugins can add their own section to Geeklog’s What’s New block.
- All URL fields can now hold up to 255 characters (requires theme updates).
Also, be sure to check out the new resources add to the site. Feel free to add your own as well.

I downloaded and installed WordPress 1.0.1 Miles last nite, and the script is just wonderful. I upgraded from a very old version of b2 and the conversion didn’t take too long. The data was imported in less than a minute. :D
I found this beautiful template at Alex King. It’s made by Naoko M., and is called Pink Lilies. :) Thank you for the WordPress Template!
Updates on Domain

I just upgraded the PHP Princess.net Board to Invision Power Board version 1.2 RC 1. The upgrade wasn’t hard at all. A bit tedious to upload all the files, but that was probably the hardest part. ;) The only drawback is that the old skins will not work. But I found some nice ones at Nbsdesignz.com. ;) Also, the chatroom has been moved to #php-princess on irc.ufirc.net.

Note: that stats on alexa.com only reflect users who use MSIE and have the Alexa spyware on their computers.

A new phpFunctions Reference List has been added to the domain. It’s a list of all the functions in php and their corresponding description. It’s pretty handy when you’re trying to find out what a certain function does. The script was written by my boyfriend Albert.

I just installed 4images Gallery, an image gallery management system, and I think it’s absoultely what I havve been looking for. There’s photo voting, e-cards, templates, skins, upload support, image resize, users, and more! I love it. You can see an example of it in action at the PHP Princess Gallery. I still have to figure what I want to use it for, so stay tuned!
